Episode 1

Tanya Rich: The one with the Fabulous Fanny!

In the latest episode of "How do you Say That?!", Tanya Rich joins Sam and Mark for what turns out to be a hilarious romp through some badly written e-learning scripts! Find out why dolphins could invade your doctor's appointment, our v/o question is about whether or not to specialise in specific genres, and we continue the audiobooks debate!

We'd love you to join in and send us your version of one of the reads in today's show - just pop it onto an mp3 and send it to podcast@britishvoiceover.co.uk

Script 1:

DOCTOR

Maria, if you are feeling ok… let’s measure your blood pressure. Could you come and sit here?

(Doctor wraps a bp meter around Maria’s arm. He/she starts to pump it.)

DOCTOR

When was the last time you got your blood pressure checked? It is 142 over 90 now. It is higher than normal. I also want to check your HbA1c level. This should give us a better idea about your glucose.  I’m sorry Maria - it’s a blood test. I know you’re not keen on needles.

Script 2:

In product lifecycle management, engineering qualifies the performance and environmental impact and needs considerable effort. Today, the majority of the engineering activities and important decisions at various stages of the product design process such as concept generation and evaluation, material selection, manufacturing process selection and performance assessment are limited by the experience of the product designer and happen in an ad-hoc workflow leading to several iterations to meet multiple requirements from mechanical, electrical, thermal and sustainability.

Script 3:

Sophie (aka Pierre):

Hello, how can I help you?

Justine, Customer:

Hello, I come to buy products for my baby. I have chosen this one, for normal skin, is that good? I see here for atopic-prone skin, what exactly is atopic- prone skin?

Sophie:

An atopic-prone skin is a more and more common skin type these days. The skinisverydrywithoccasionaleczemapatchesthatappearandcanmaketh e skin itch!

Justine, Customer:

That reminds me something... and how does that happen?

Sophie:

The hereditary factor is very important for this skin type. Do you know if you had eczema as a baby? or allergies? Or the baby’s father?

Justine, Customer:

No, I don’t remember. But my husband did, he dad eczema when he was a baby. My

mother-in-law told me! Do you think my child will be atopic?

Sophie:

It’s very possible! If both parents are atopic, you baby has a 50 to 80% chance to have an atopic-prone skin! But don’t worry, it is no big deal at all. It been scientifically proven that you can reduce the risk of eczema by up to         if you apply an emollient care every day from birth.

Justine, Customer:

Then I’m reassured. Well, almost :)

Sophie:

Don’t be worried, eczema flare-ups decrease with age.

Justine, Customer:

And what do you suggest I use then?

Sophie:  h a s 5 0 %

I recommend Voliar It is a range specially designed for atopic babies.

Justine, Customer:

And what do they have that these products have more than the others?

Sophie:

They are high security products that can be used from the first days of life and of course, without fragrance!

Justine, Customer:

That’s fine with me, what products do you recommend?

Sophie:

The best to start with is to use Voliar Emollient Cream or Balm every day to moisturize and nourish your baby’s skin. For the bath, use the Voliar Cleansing Cream to gently cleanse, and for the face, there is an Emollient Face Cream, because most of atopic dermatitis starts on the face.

Justine, Customer:

Perfect, I’ll take all three, thanks for your advice!

Sophie:

I give you a Baht Oil sample, it strengthens the other products effect. And since the water is hard in our region, it’s better to put it in the bath water! We hope to see you soon :) You will come and introduce your baby to us when he will be born, won’t you?

Justine, Customer:

Yes, I give birth in 2 months!

Philippe to Sophie, once the customer left:

Well done Sophie, you were perceptive: you asked the good question and you were convincing and reassuring. You used simple words to talk about atopic- prone skin, the customer left reassured and with the appropriate products.
