Episode 146
Paul Schmidt: The one with the Unnecessary Air Quotes
In ep 146 of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, Paul Schmidt joins Sam and Mark to talk about naked comedy, dream kitchens, and salesy promos! We ask - are air quotes a good thing or completely unnecessary? Do men still sell to women and women to men - or is that just stereotypical 20th Century thinking? Are promos in the US still about the Moster Truck read? And how do you measure oomph against volume in a promo read?
Our VO question this week is all about the one killer marketing thing you need to do for you Voice Over business in preparation for 2026.

Script 1
Try experimenting with classic layouts like L-shape, U-shape, galley, or island configurations in our planner. Each layout has its strengths — the L-shape is great for open-plan living, while a U-shape offers a great way to create an ergonomic "work triangle" with the sink, fridge and oven. Galley kitchens are ideal for compact or narrow areas - neat, streamlined and budget friendly - or, if you have the space, an island layout is perfect for families who love to cook and chat together.
Now let’s talk functionality and comfort.
