Episode 63

Kasper Michaels: The one with the American Canadian!

In this episode of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, Kasper Michaels joins Sam and Mark to talk about contrasting styles in commercial reads, whether pushing one in an IVR is the only option, and Igor (Dr Frankenstein's assistant) makes an appearance!

Our VO question this week is all about the mid-atlantic accent, and whether Kasper's Canadian voice is recognised as such in the UK.

About our guest:

Kasper Michaels was a Canadian professional Ice hockey player, who turned to treading the boards as life threw spanners his way, eventually emigrating to the UK in 2007, just before the credit crunch. A veteran of numerous plays and TV shows, and one cartoon, here in the UK he encountered many talented, well trained… out of work actors.

After being dropped from his UK acting agency when they went “boutique”, he took the money from his last acting job and got a voice reel. He was invited to join a new agency, and 14 years later he is still there, and has a successful VO career. He is currently the narrator for one of Discovery’s top rated shows, Mysteries of the Abandoned.
